On the 18th of July we will be releasing our long-awaited Young Starlings EP on Prime Cut Music. It’ll be available at the usual digital outlets and I’m delighted to report that we have limited edition cassette copies, which you can pre-order here . It was a really enjoyable EP to make and we recorded most of what you hear live onto analog tape at Brighton Electric studios, adding a few extra bits afterwards.
To celebrate the release we will be throwing a launch party on July 14th at Brighton’s infamous Green Door Store. It’ll be free entry with live sets from us and the brilliant Speak Galactic. There’s more info over on the facebook event page. Listen to the entire EP below.
I keep coming back to this again and again. It has lent atmosphere and an uneasy calm to many an evening lately. You are listening to New York streams police shortwave radio from New York alongside a seemingly random mix of ambient music. The combined product has the feel of absolute calm juxtaposed with impending tragedy, like you’re wandering city streets late at night slightly removed from yourself… or something…
Here’s my recent solo performance of ‘How Frightful’ for Bouffant Collective as part of their Laundry series. They ask artists from Brighton & Hove to perform in their local laundrette alongside all the noises and unsuspecting guests that might appear during the filming. They have a much more erudite explanation over at their website where you can also watch previous episodes of the series.
